At Premier Construction, when we custom design bathrooms, we hope they’re kept up for the lifetime of the home. Still, we get it—the bathroom is probably the least fun room to clean. Let’s go over a few tips and hacks for cleaning your bathroom fast!
When you’re in a rush (and even when you’re not), shaving cream and toothpaste may not be rinsed out of the sink right away. Within minutes, it starts to become crusty and gross. The same can be said for face washes and masks. So, at the end of each day, take a wet cloth to your faucets and sinks to keep them looking clean! If you have chrome fixtures, a little bit of baby oil works wonders to get that shine back.
It’s natural for a mirror to start to look foggy after a while. In the bathroom, the humidity and splashing from the sink can make this happen even faster. Take some shaving cream, apply it to the mirror, then take a wet paper towel to wipe it off. You’ll be shocked with how clear and polished it’ll look.
Bleach is going to be your friend here. Make sure you’re wearing something you don’t mind bleaching, though, because unless you’re a magician, you’re likely going to end up getting some on you. In a spray bottle, mix equal parts bleach (you can try vinegar first) with water. Spray down your tile and grout and let it dry. No need to scrub if you’re just dealing with some lime scale. Once dry, rinse thoroughly. If you’re looking at those pesky black spots in your grout, create a paste using water and baking soda, then scrub into the spots (mold) with a small scrub brush (or toothbrush).
You may not even think about the cleanliness of your kids’ bath toys, because they’re being used during bathtime. However, they can be full of germs and if water gets stuck inside them, mold can start to form. Gather up the toys in a wash bucket full of ¾ cup vinegar to gallon of water (warm). Rinse them out completely and lay them on a towel to dry fully. Bonus: you’ll clean those toys without using harsh chemicals.
Air Blast Your Exhaust FanYour exhaust fan easily collects dust particles, making it look dirty pretty quickly. How do you clean that fast without getting our the vacuum extensions? Use the same canned air you’d use to clean out a keyboard! The same technique can be used on blinds. It’s not a deep clean, but it’ll get the job done in a pinch.
