Bathroom Trends for 2019

A dream bathroom may seem like something you’ll only see in magazines and Pinterest. That couldn’t be further from the truth, though! There are several things you could do to your bathroom—no matter the size—to update it and bring it into 2018.

Efficient Use of Space

It would be great to have an enormous bathroom to turn into a giant spa. That’s not super-realistic, though. Still, that shouldn’t stop you from having the bathroom of your dreams. One trend we’re seeing a lot of recently is using the space you have more efficiently, introducing luxury to your smaller bathroom. A clawfoot or otherwise freestanding tub can make a smaller bathroom feel larger. Instead of using cabinets, shelving and floating vanities can make a cramped restroom seem much more spacious. Don’t be afraid of pedestal sinks—they’re classic and sleek.

Gold and Brass Fixtures

This one is hard for some folks to swallow, because just a few years ago, the first thing we did was take out all of the brass or gold-tone fixtures. However, they’re coming back in a big way. When done correctly, the warm tones these fixtures can bring to a space can add a luxurious and comfortable feel. Plus, now we have more options when it comes to the finishes. If you aren’t sure about the shinier finishes, check out a satin or matte.

Heated Flooring

Walking into your bathroom in the morning and feeling the cold tile under your feet is never welcoming. It’s not a fun way to start your day! Investing in a heated floor in the bathroom is an excellent option. Underfloor heating can work with tile, vinyl, wood, concrete, and a variety of other flooring systems. A bonus: thanks to the insulation added with a heated floor, noise levels can be reduced.

Vanity Lighting

The type and arrangement of the lighting in a smaller bathroom is everything. If you have a freestanding tub, a small, but stylish chandelier can add quite a bit of impact. Sconces and lighting over your vanity can create the sparkle to make your bathroom look larger, too. Think of your lighting options as the jewelry that makes an outfit really come together. It should never be an afterthought.

Unique Tile

Investing in more uniquely-shaped tile can create a stunning look in your bathroom.  We love subway tile, but when paired with tile on the floor that has a different design, your eye will move around the space and it’s easier to appreciate the styles. The great thing is there are countless shapes to choose from in different textures and colors. These always pack a big punch.
