Toilets come in either an elongated shape or round shape.
Elongated is the most common, but be sure to know what bowl size you currently have before running out to the store to buy a replacement toilet seat. The second option you have when selecting a toilet is choosing the toilet height. Most toilets range from 14 to 16 inches high. The ADA requires handicap toilets to be 16.5 and 18 inches high. Consumers usually find with the taller the toilet, comfort, and accessibility greatly improve.
The last major toilet option to choose is the toilet style. Toilets can be found as a one-piece unit or two-piece unit. Two-piece toilets are typically the more common choice, but one-piece toilets eliminate leaks between the tank and the bowl. Other fun options for your bathroom are wall-mounted toilets and corner toilets.
After you have chosen the shape, height, and style, the only decisions you are left with are the fun ones. You can choose various colors, flushing technologies, soft-closing seats, and even heated toilet seats. Talk about literally being in the hot seat… but for a good reason.
